About the artist:
Ingar Krauss was born in East Berlin in 1965, where he continues to live and work. He had his solo debut in Berlin in 2002, and has since shown in solo shows in New York (4 times); Erfurt, Germany; Milan, Italy; Innsbruck, Austria; Atlanta, USA; Udine, Italy; and (in 2008) Riga, Latvia.
Krauss has participated in group shows with other well-respected artists, including Bill Armstrong, Roger Ballen, Elina Brotherus, Rineke Dijkstra, Paul Graham, Shirin Neshat, Doug Aitken, Celine van Balen, Joel Sternfeld, Sally Mann, Rineke Dijkstra, Annika Larsson, Ivan Pinkava, Sam Taylor Wood, Matt Saunders and others.
A monograph of Krauss’s work,
Portraits, was published in 2005 by Hatje Cantz Verlag, Germany.
He is represented by Marvelli Gallery, New York, and Galleria Suzy Shammah, Milan.
The New Yorker magazine featured the photography of Ingar Krauss twice in the past six months in its “Goings On About Town” events listings, with praise for his solo show at Marvelli Gallery in New York City.
