Window Seat

The only good thing about cheap business travel, the only thing, is a window seat with a loaded iPod and the camera and maybe two of those little plastic vodka bottles with lots of ice and nobody sitting next to you. Chance favors the prepared mind. (I think Bob Dylan said that.) Flying over the "developing" western desert and tract homes and shopping malls, sitting in a cramped caved-in synthetic seat, I found welcome distraction with the music and vodka and felt a compulsion to take pictures of some of the weirdness that passed outside my temporary window.

You can check out the view from Oakland, California on the way through Las Vegas and back through Phoenix. Sound track courtesy of a stranger's personal favorites CD called the Lolita Mix. The song is Turn a Square by The Shins, and the quicktime movie lasts exactly as long as the song. Need more ice in that?
