In 1987 I started to make panoramic photographs by exposing multiple slightly overlapping frames that fit together to record a scene
in such a way that a viewer is invited to explore the depicted space.
In 2019, I looked at some photographs that I had made to be single images, and tried putting them together. I was and am excited to find that putting them together into these composites makes them more compelling spatially and conceptually. I find that in this form they ask the viewer to take a more active position in their interaction and conversation with the work.
I spent the month of January, 2020, in India – wandering around, eating lots of delicious masala dosas, and looking at things. I hope to go back. There’s so much more to see.
