Thousands of Sandhill Cranes come to the Bosque del Apache Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico every fall to winter there. To photograph these magnificent birds in flight is a demanding and highly difficult project. The camera with a telephoto lens aimed at the birds in flight must fired before the crane or cranes enter the frame of the viewfinder. Intuition, instinct, and much practice is needed. The rewards are spectacular images of the beautiful cranes in full flight.
