I have transformed images of my children when they were younger into superheroes, placed within landscapes that foreshadows a desolate future. Brightly colored capes celebrate the confidence with which, unfazed, they believe that anything is possible. For adults the world may feel out of control. This work explores the idea that children, able to use imagination to embrace possibility, are the superheroes society needs to face the challenges in front of us. And yet the impotence of their efforts to play at power embodies the anxiety of a society on the brink, struggling to believe in the future.
